Hello, I'm Fr. Agustino Torres, CFR. I am originally from South Texas. As a priest with the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, I have dedicated my life to serving God and His people. My assignments have brought me to the Central American mountains, to the canyons of the South Bronx.

But if I say, “I will not mention his word or speak anymore in his name,” his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot. Jeremiah 20:9

Serving as a retreat guide, spiritual director, and international speaker, especially for youth and young adults, has been a true joy. For the last 10 years I have been assigned to the preaching apostolate and have been blessed to speak at many national conferences. Currently, I am the Catholic Chaplain at William Paterson University.

What are your qualifications?

I have been a priest for over 16 years. I currently serve on the General Council of The Franciscan Friars of the Renewal as 1st councilor. Additionally, I hold degrees in history from Seton Hall University, sacred theology from the University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome, and divinity and theology from St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers, NY. As an itinerant preacher for my community, I have been blessed to travel to many countries and engage with many different cultures. I speak Spanish fluently.

I am a CatholicPsych Institute certified mentor. The CPMAP model integrates solid Catholic anthropology and spirituality with the best of the psychological sciences for an integrated understanding of the human person.

I am the founder of Corazón Puro and Latinos por la Vida, organizations committed to promoting the dignity of human life and the beauty of chastity. I have assisted in the founding of many other initiatives, including St. Anthony’s Shelter for Renewal, Catholic Underground, Casa Guadalupe house for women, and John Paul II House for men.

I mention these because they have given me a wide perspective on humanity. While I am not a licensed therapist and cannot diagnose or prescribe medications, I am eager to listen to your story and help you experience the healing God desires in your life.

What exactly is Mentorship?

Mentorship (technically called Integrated Daily Dialogic Mentorship, or IDDM) is neither traditional counseling nor spiritual direction, but occupies a unique space in between those two fields. Mentorship is daily accompaniment, looking at you and your story as an integrated whole, examined at your pace, with the goal of finding happiness and holiness in your life.
