DAN STOKMAN, LPC

Therapist Associate

Dan Stokman is a licensed professional clinical counselor in Minnesota with both local services to the Twin Cities area and to online clients as well. He has been in private practice for the past ten years and has worked in several mental-health related roles and facilities.

These various work settings were not always supportive of a Catholic vision of the human person and over time created a need to work alongside other Catholic therapists. This need led to prayer and a search for where this might be made possible. The search resulted in finding CatholicPsych Institute which provides both professional support and enhanced methods to serve clients through an evidenced-based and faith-informed model of psychotherapy.

Degree

Dan received his undergraduate degree in Psychology and a minor in Philosophy from the University of St Thomas in St Paul, MN. He then received his MA in Counseling from Franciscan University of Steubenville.

Experience

Dan’s work and training has primarily focused on couples, which includes intensive training through the Gottman Institute in Seattle and with Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Both are grounded in solid research and fit with a Catholic anthropology of the human person and Christian marriage. He is a Certified Clinical Sexual Addiction Specialist (CCSAS) through International Association of Certified Sexual Addiction Specialists.
